More Chatham County Residents Now Eligible for Medicaid

Individuals May Apply Online or at Chatham County Department of Social Services

With Medicaid expansion, more individuals are eligible for Medicaid benefits. If you need help applying, more information can be found with the Department of Social Services at 102 Camp Drive. There is also an online application system through NC ePass, and Chatham County Department of Social Services has computer workstations available for residents to apply online.

Grants Available to Promote Physical Activity

Chatham County Partnership for Children, with funding from our annual Reindeer Run 5K, is pleased to offer grants to promote physical activity in Chatham County for children and/or adults. Projects may be located in schools, child care facilities, public areas, parks, churches, community centers, or worksites.  Priority will be given innovative projects that promote healthy physical activity for underserved groups.  Previous grantees are eligible.

Eligible Applicants Schools, child care facilities, churches, businesses, public agencies, and nonprofit agencies that provide or intend to provide physical activity opportunities to children and/or adults

Grant Amount A total of $10,000 is available for
grants to 3-5 projects
Funds Disbursed July 2022
Project Completion & Report Due November 30, 2023 with 5 photos

Examples of past projects ·         Sports and dance equipment for school age children in child care

·         Rebuilding of trail bridges on public trail

·         Paved tricycle track for preschool classroom

·         Swim lessons for children in foster care

·         Upgrade of church walking trail open to the community

2023 Early Educator Conference March 18th

Join your county early educator community for a Saturday of fun and learning!

Register on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/chatham-county-early-educator-conference-2023-registration-537672893097

You will receive 5. hours of DCDEE credit by attending this conference.

  • Attend 3 separate training sessions OR
  • Choose the full-day training “Play: An Intervention for Challenging Behavior” workshop

Every child care professional participating will receive early childhood classroom materials funded by Smart Start to be used in an early childhood classroom.

Light breakfast snacks will be provided.

Lunch provided by Pete da Heat food truck.
