Child Care Support
Promoting safe, healthy learning environments by equipping child care providers with expert guidance, practical training, and ongoing support.
Strengthening early childhood settings through collaborative consultation and education that fosters the well-being of children and those who care for them.
How is it going?
Child Care Health Consultation is progressing well and continues to move forward with positive momentum. Our new Child Care Health Consultant Savannah joined the team early this fall and completed her certification on 12/1/2025. While earning her certification she focused on building strong relationships with licensed childcare programs in Chatham, who have been welcoming, proactive in seeking support, and increasingly trusting when reaching out for resources and guidance. In addition, over 40 in-person and consultation-based coaching interactions have been completed, supporting programs with immunization reporting, communicable disease prevention, technology training, and overall health and safety improvements, including initiation of a quarter three Health and Safety Assessment. While participation in Health and Safety assessments has been more challenging than expected due to timing, certification requirements, and the holiday season, continued outreach and relationship-building are already leading to increased engagement, positioning the program for stronger assessment participation moving forward.
Successes
Since starting in this role in August 2025, the Sun Safety and Shade Solutions training was the first training I offered to child care programs, along with Dorothy Rawleigh and Matt Jones, and it was a great success! The programs that came to the training had the opportunity to receive a free shade tree for their outdoor play environment and two ended up receiving a tree along with assistance planting it.

96% of health and safety training participants score at least an 80 on their post-tests!
