Parent Education/ Skills

Parent education reduces the risk of child abuse and neglect by encouraging positive parenting practices that promote safety, well-being, and permanency for children and families.

Parent education provides parents and caregivers with the essential tools and skills needed for effective parenting techniques, discipline, and teaching.

Parents who have engaged in parent education have reported their children having:

  • Higher grades
  • Fewer behavior problems
  • Less substance abuse issues
  • Better mental health
  • Greater social competence

Equipping Chatham County fathers w-ith the tools needed to raise their children for growth and success. The role of fathers in families is diverse and related to cultural and community norms. Men should receive the education and support needed to prepare them for the responsibility of parenthood.
