Every child has a unique story of growth, learning, interests, and development. In Every Child Has a Story: Part 2, early educators will learn how to create meaningful child portfolios that document children’s progress over time. Participants will explore how to collect and organize authentic documentation, including observations, work samples, photographs, and children’s words, and connect this evidence to the developmental domains and goals found in the North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development. Educators will practice using portfolio documentation to recognize children’s strengths, identify emerging skills, individualize learning experiences, plan meaningful classroom activities, and communicate children’s progress with families. Participants will leave with practical strategies for making portfolios an ongoing part of the observation, assessment, and planning process rather than simply a collection of children’s work.
