Financial Assistance

Strengthening early education by enhancing support for NC Pre-K programs, ensuring all children have access to high-quality learning experiences.

Investing in school readiness by providing financial support that helps bridge opportunity gaps for families in need.

How did it go?

This year, our NC Pre-K program was successfully implemented through strong partnerships with site providers, ensuring high-quality instruction, compliance with program standards, and meaningful family engagement. Ongoing collaboration and professional development supported continuous improvement and helped prepare children for kindergarten success. A significant achievement happened when six of our public school sites completed their rated licensure observations and assessment this spring. All sites scored at least a 5.5, allowing all of them to maintain their five star license, reflecting the dedication of teachers, administrators, and partners to maintaining high-quality learning environments. The primary challenge was recruiting and retaining qualified staff, particularly at Head Start, highlighting the continued need to strengthen recruitment and retention efforts while ensuring consistent, high-quality programming.

Successes

The following are a few testimonials from NC Pre-K parents this year:

“Since starting at NCPK, my daughter has grown so much. She’s learning to use her words, solve problems, and play nicely with other kids. What’s been the biggest surprise for me is seeing my youngest daughter—who’s always been the one taken care of by her older sister—start to look out for others at home, share, and even help solve little disagreements on her own. The teachers at NCPK have created such a caring space where she can explore, express herself, and really thrive.”

“En todo momento me sentí muy segura de entregar a mi hija y saber que ella va a estar bien” At all times, I felt very confident entrusting my daughter to them and knowing she would be well.

“He has come out of his shell. He is excited to come to school everyday. His learning has blown me away. They have done an awesome job preparing him for kindergarten.”

“Mi hijo le ha gustado mucho su escuela . Aprendió mucho y también le ayudó mucho emocionalmente. El no sabía controlar sus emociones y ahora puede hacerlo mucho mejor.” My son has really liked his school. He learned a lot, and it also helped him a great deal emotionally. He didn’t know how to control his emotions, but now he can do so much better.

“NC PreK has helped my child become more confident and independent this year. They are excited to learn every day and have grown socially and academically.”
