Healthy Cooking Essentials for Child Care Providers Course (Consists of 9 classes between February and November 2020.)

Ring in the New Year and stick to your New Year’s resolutions by taking advantage of an amazing course offering from Central Carolina’s Culinary Institute! If you want to learn culinary skills to provide healthy and tasty meals for the children you serve, your family, friends and yourself while also having fun with others then this 9-class course is for you!

The Healthy Cooking Essentials for Child Care Providers course will provide learning opportunities for beginners who want to learn the basic techniques of cooking, as well as for those who already have a foundation in cooking and just want to learn some new techniques and try out yummy recipes. During this course students will learn techniques for creating delicious, kid friendly meals using whole food and locally sourced ingredients (cooking from scratch!), essential culinary and sanitation skills as well as the fundamentals of nutrition and the connection between food, health and sustainability. The course will also cover how to use these new skills and meet CACFP rules.

DCDEE Credits: At the end of the course, participants who completed all 9 classes will receive CEU’S that are accepted by DCDEE, equaling
22.5 hours of instruction
Cost: Chatham child care providers: $31.60
Non- Chatham child care providers (everyone else): $71.60

Thanks to a generous grant from the Chatham Health Alliance, child care providers who work at licensed child care facilities in Chatham County will receive a discounted price of $31.60 that will cover the cost of all 9 classes. The total cost for participants who are not Chatham child care staff will be $71.60.
How to pay:
Please only sign up for this course if you can commit to coming to all 9 classes. If you sign up for this course through this website, Dorothy Rawleigh will contact you individually to verify that you are a child care provider in Chatham, give you the certificate to receive the discount and provide you with directions on how to register and pay for the course through CCCC. If you are not a Chatham child care provider please also contact Dorothy and she can give you instructions on how to register and pay.
