Merger of Chatham County Partnership for Children and Child Care Networks, Inc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are the agencies merging?

Each agency had a strong history of effective services and good management, but each faced sustainability challenges due to reduced funding. The decision to merge was made after thorough assessment and careful thought by both Boards over an 11-month process. The merger will increase efficiency so that our work can benefit more children. We believe we will better together!

When is the merger going to happen?

It will be effective January 1, 2016.

What will be the name of the merged agency?

Chatham County Partnership for Children.

Does that mean that only Chatham County will be served by the merged agency?

All of the agency’s Smart Start funding will be used only for the benefit of Chatham County children, as has always been the case. The food program (Child and Adult Care Food Program) will continue to serve child care providers in multiple counties, and other funding that is specified by the funder for multi-county services will be used as the funder intended.

Why was the name Chatham County Partnership for Children chosen instead of Child Care Networks?

This choice was required by North Carolina Smart Start funding.

Does that mean Child Care Networks is going away?

The programs and services of Child Care Networks will be maintained, and the name Child Care Networks will still be used as a program of Chatham County Partnership for Children. Child Care Networks will no longer be standalone agency or legal entity.

Will you be moving into the same office?

For now we will continue to use both offices in Pittsboro at 33 Deegan Drive and 200 Sanford Highway. We will continually evaluate our needs for space and make changes as needed. Our mailing address for all correspondence as of January 1 should be 200 Sanford Highway, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Will your email addresses and phone numbers change?

You can continue to contact all staff at their current email and phone numbers for now. Eventually CCN staff will use a chathamkids.org email address.
