Board and Committee
The Chatham County Partnership for Children is actively seeking interested volunteers to serve on the Board of Directors (3-year term) and its Committees, especially the Fundraising Development Committee and the Program Planning and Evaluation Committee. Volunteers play an important role by providing advice and support to the oversight of our program and the public dollars we administer. The Partnership is a non-profit organization that plans, funds, and implements quality early childhood education, health, and family support initiatives for children from birth to eight. The Partnership is home to Smart Start and NC Pre-K for Chatham County as well as Child Care Resource & Referral and the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Board of Directors
The Board is made up of community members representing parents, community and business representatives, child care teachers, and human service providers. The Board meets ten times per year.
Meeting Schedule: 3rd Tuesday, 6:00-7:30 PM, as scheduled (see our Agency Calendar).
Committees vary in size and membership according to their function and purpose. Committees meet between 6 and 12 times per year.
Standing Committees
EXECUTIVE & FINANCE. The Executive Committee shall consist of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and up to 6 other members of the Board of Directors, appointed by the Chair and approved by the Board of Directors. The Executive committee shall have and may exercise all the authority of the Board in matters pertaining to the basic management of the Corporation between meetings of the Board except as limited by N.C.G.S. 55A-23.
This Committee also serves as the audit committee for the organization and shall provide oversight to ensure the integrity of the financial statements of the organization. This includes quarterly reviews, detailed budget expenditure reports as well as the agencies overall fund balances and balance sheet. An annual budget work session is held in May of each year to provide the opportunity for all Board members and staff to participate in the detailed budget development process. Once adopted by the Board, budget revision requests may be reviewed and approved by the Executive Finance Committee, except in the case of changes to the total budget for an activity or project.

PLANNING & EVALUATION. The Planning & Evaluation Committee is chaired by the Board Vice-Chair and is responsible for identifying future goals, developing proposals for reaching those goals, evaluating the effectiveness of current activities, and submitting recommendations for consideration by the Board.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE. The Nominating Committee is responsible for presenting a slate of Officers and Board members. Nominations to the Board shall be for specific seats on the Board. Further nominations may be made from the floor.

Select Committees
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE. This is the fundraising committee which provides leadership for involving the Board in fundraising and works with the staff to implement a strategic resource plan for the organization.

NC PRE-K ADVISORY COMMITTEE. The NCPK Program provides high quality early childhood education to children at risk of school failure due to poverty and other factors. The Advisory Committee provides guidance and oversight to the implementation of this program and is comprised of community partner agency representatives, classroom teachers, parents, and other child care providers. This committee is chaired jointly by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board Chair for the Partnership for Children or their designee.
