Family Support
Supporting caregivers as powerful early educators by creating joyful, play-based learning spaces that nurture child development and community connection.
Celebrating everyday moments of play and relationship-building to empower families in preparing children for lifelong learning and success.
How is it going?
KPL is off to a strong start, with high participation in both Pittsboro and Siler City and consistently engaged caregivers who are attentive, curious, and deeply involved in their children’s learning. Our playgroups offer a rich variety of weekly activities that support multiple developmental areas, paired with clear, informative materials that help caregivers understand the “why” behind the play and feel confident replicating activities at home using simple, accessible materials. We continue to build meaningful relationships with families while thoughtfully managing growth across locations, managing wild growth in Pittsboro and actively expanding awareness in Goldston. Our goal is to ensure all playgroups remain high-quality spaces for connection, modeling, and learning.
Successes
One participating caregiver is a stay-at-home parent who works on a homestead and has limited access to family support and social connections. Due to their home-based routine, her younger child has had few opportunities for regular peer interaction. Participation in KPL has been transformative for both the caregiver and her child. The child eagerly anticipates attending playgroup, where he engages in a variety of enriching activities, while the caregiver learns more effective and intentional ways to interact with her son. The child also benefits from regular interaction with peers. Through KPL, the caregiver has developed a supportive network for herself and her child. She shared that having dedicated time each week to connect with other caregivers, exchange knowledge, and learn alongside her child has been invaluable.
So far this year we have served 120 children and 100 caregivers!
